Apprenticeships are big news

Recent newspaper articles

The Chancellor George Osborne promised the creation of 40,000 apprenticeship schemes in his 2011 budget. This is on top of the 20,000 already promised for this year.

He also urged more employers - like those in Sussex - to run on-the-job training schemes as Britain struggles with more than one in five 18 to 24 year-olds out of work - a record number.

Apprenticeships can be a good deal both for employers and for young people seeking to launch a career with apprentices being able to look forward to earning an average of £85'000 more than unqualified workers thought their lifetimes, while employers can enjoy the benefits of a more skilled and productive workforce - apprentices are thought to be "key" to the success of a business.
